NJ Transit's Bergen Line train No. 1876 was struck by the white Toyota on Rock Road while it was stopped at the Borough Hall station, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The 63-year-old North Haledon female driver apparently stopped too close to the gates then hit the back of the Waldwick-to-Hoboken train with her car when she mistakenly put it into drive, NJ Transit's Lisa Torbic said.
The train continued on, and the woman was taken to The Valley Hospital with chest pains, responders said. Glen Rock firefighters cleaned up a fuel spill.
No summonses were issued.
NJ Transit police were investigating.
Assisting at the scene were Glen Rock Police Officers Murray Yang, Bryan Scott, James McGill, Sarah Orsita and Sgt. Frank Riggio, the chief said.
