Fair Lawn Lt. James Corcoran notified Paramus police that he’d pulled over a 1999 Nissan Maxima in front of the GNC on the highway for passing on the shoulder, Detective Capt. Robert Guidetti said.
The passenger took off, he said — but he didn’t get far: Paramus Officers Paul Siemon and Doug Ohlendorf found him behind the Guitar Center.
Guidetti said the officers found a brown paper bag he stashed under a parked car.
Inside, he said, was the cocaine, which could sell for more than $3,500 on the street — or even more if broken down into grams.
A small amount of marijuana and a smoking pipe were found in the glove compartment of the Maxima, Guidetti said.
The passenger, Ibn W. Ross, 41, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y. (above, left), was being held on $30,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with cocaine possession with the intent to distribute the drug and eluding police.
The driver, 45-year-old Farid Khan, was being held on $20,000 bail, charged with the same possession-with-intent charge, as well as possession of marijuana and the pipe.
He also received summonses for passing on the shoulder and having both an expired license and vehicle insurance.
