Thanks to help from Bergen County Police and the county prosecutor’s office, the raid “went off without a hitch,” Glen Rock Police Chief Frederick P. Stahman told CLIFFVIEW PILOT on Tuesday.
After announcing their intentions from the street, the tactical team barged in Monday night. They arrested three men and grabbed a loaded gun, $1,000 in cash and 40 dime bags of pot, along with some cocaine.
The cash was on a coffee table, and both the drugs and fully-loaded .32-caliber handgun “were all in plain view,” Stahman said.
The three outnumbered occupants were arrested without any trouble, the chief said.
Including buyers grabbed after they left the house, Glen Rock police collared seven people, including two juveniles.

“We were getting some information that these people on Bergen Street were selling drugs out of the house,” Stahman told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “Detectives decided to sit on the house. They saw some hand-to-hand transactions and followed up.”
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office got a judge to sign a search warrant, and the tactical team headed to the house around 5 p.m. Monday, the chief said.
Stahman said his officer called the SWAT team for assistance “after getting pretty good information that there was some type of gun” in the house.
Over a span of a two hours, the officers watched two open drug deals, Stahman said.
After the first one, they let the alleged buyers’ car get far enough away before pulling it over on Maple Avenue. The two women inside, 19 and 18 years old, both from Ridgewood, were charged with having a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the chief said. They were released pending Municipal Court hearings.
Soon after, two local juveniles walked away with a couple of dime bags, the chief said. Officers grabbed them, too.
The two stops “substantiated even more what was going on,” Stahman told the website.
Around 7 o’clock, police went crashing in, the chief said.
Among the three arrested inside was Corey McCoy, who turns 39 in a few weeks, on heroin possession charges.
McCoy, who also has an outstanding warrant to answer in Teaneck and has been living in Glen Rock, is on parole for manslaughter and weapons possession, records show. He was released from a New York State prison in 2005 after serving 12 years.
Given the lesser degree of the possession charge Monday night, he was released without bail. However, as Stahman said: “This obviously violates his parole. He’ll be going back to jail.”
A second man, James Gross, 20, was also released without bail, charged with drug possession, he said.
The biggest catch, 21-year-old Mark Miller, was charged with several counts, ranging from distributing and manufacturing pot for sale, weapons possession, and several other counts, Stahman told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. Miller is being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.
Police also impounded a BMW and a Honda believed bought with proceeds from the illicit business, the chief said.
In addition to praising his officers for their determined work, Stahman credited county police and the prosecutor’s office for providing the resources that made the raid possible.
