The Bergen County Department of Health Services reminded residents not to approach any animal acting aggressive, friendly, active or lazy -- or to feed, handle or approach wild or unknown animals, including cats and kittens.

Rabies is a fatal viral disease if untreated. Any mammal can carry rabies if infected. A rabid animal may act aggressive, friendly, active or lazy.

Bites or scratches from any suspected animal should be reported to local police.
