Police hunt Fair Lawn burglar

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: A burglar tried to force his way into a Fair Lawn home, then took off when the owner showed up, police said this morning.

The thief, who appeared in his early 20s, broke a window near the front door but never made it inside — taking off as the homeowner returned.

A K9 unit from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office joined Glen Rock and Bergen County Police Department officers in a subsequent search of the Herold Drive neighborhood.

It was the area’s second recent burglary or attempt.

The man in this case was described as about 5-foot-8, with brown hair, a black shirt, dark blue jeans and black sneakers.
