Police: Glen Rock hunter found dead in Mahwah woods apparently had medical condition

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Glen Rock hunter whose body was found in the woods of Mahwah near Ramapo College this morning was apparently stricken by a medical condition, police said.

A scavenger hunter seeking a clue found the 58-year-old man’s body about 50 yards from the Rampao River off Route 202, just south of the college, Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

A rifle and binoculars were found next to the victim, who wore hunting clothes, Batelli said. His vehicle was nearby.

“There were no signs of foul play and nothing suspicious was found at the scene,” the chief said. “It appears he suffered a medical condition.”

The scavenger hunter immediately called police after finding the body, Batelli said.

“It didn’t appear to have been there for any length of time,” he said.
