The Green Dragon driver told police that "he was robbed in Haledon after he made a delivery and became lost," Sgt. Brian Metzler said Wednesday.

Detective Mark Wyka investigated and determined that 19-year-old Japneet Chani of Fair Lawn "made up the story to take the money with two friends who were with him," Metzler said.

Chani and the other two -- identified as Jacob Finver, 20, and 21-year-old Isaac Howington, both of Fair Lawn, were all released pending a court hearing after being charged with theft.
