The blaze began in a second-floor closet and destroyed that apartment and another unit at the 92-unit Eldorado Village complex on High Street, emergency workers said.

Dozens of residents who live in nine apartments in the building were evacuated after the 8 a.m. fire broke out.

It wasn’t clear when all would be allowed to return.

The cause wasn’t considered suspicious, authorities said.

Elmwood Park and Saddle Brook fire units also responded.
