A woman on the block called police at 5:32 a.m. to report two men loading items into a white van on Burbank Street, police told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Responding Fair Lawn Officers Alan Annazone, Kenneth Cavanagh, Michael Franco and Robert Belbol stopped the vehicle on Fair Lawn Avene near River Road, Sgt. Richard Schultz said.
Inside the van, Schultz said, the officers found a water heater, an expansion tank for the water heater and furnace — “all brand new.”
One of the men, identified as 38-year-old Angel Rosa of Newark, was already wanted out of Suffolk County, Long Island, on burglary charges, a law enforcement source with direct knowledge of the incident told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
He apparently gave the officers a bogus driver’s license, for which he was charged with providing false information and with having unspecified forgery devices.
Rosa also was charged with burglary and theft — as was 20-year-old Jason Rivera.
Rivera was released without bail. Rosa is being held on $10,000 bail at the Bergen County Jail. Both have Sept. 28 Municipal Court appearances scheduled.
