FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- A kitchen fire before classes began cleared a Fair Lawn school for the day Wednesday, authorities said.

No children were harmed in the blaze at the Warren Point Elementary School, which was contained to the kitchen, Police Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

There was no immediate word on whether the school was reopening Thursday.
