Kiddie porn busts include 73 year old

It’s no stretch to say that members of a special unit established by Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli have been picking off suspected pedophiles and other men interested in child pornography without rest.

Just after dawn yesterday, investigators with his Computer Crimes Unit arrested two local men — one of them 73 years old — in separate incidents.

This comes after the arrest late last week of a 51-year-old Queens man who, Molinelli said, sent pornographic images to an undercover cop who claimed to be an underaged teen.

Previously, Molinelli had established a guideline that required his investigators to wait for suspects to try and arrange meetings with undercover detectives they believed were minors.

But his unit is finding more people who are not only downloading kiddie porn online but distributing it, as well: Not stopping them immediately would allow the illegal images to spread.

“People like this should just stop and spend their time seeking help instead of preying on our youth,” the prosecutor said.

Both Joseph McNally, 36, of Elmwood Park, and 73-year-old Stephen Basch of Fair Lawn are charged with possessing and distributing images of pre-pubescent children engaged in sexual acts, Molinelli said.

Both single and unemployed, they are being held on $50,000 bail each in the Bergen County Jail pending court hearings.

Same for Mark Criscuolo (aka Mark Crosthwaite), of the Whitestone section of Queens, who is charged with child endangerment by transmitting kiddie porn.

Molinelli urges anyone whose child may have communicated online with “mercedesmark2000@yahoo.com” to contact investigators at 201.226.5521. Or e-mail: adonofrio@bcpo.net
