The call came in to police at 7:05 a.m. Jan 1. A 6th Street teenager had fallen outside her house and injured her head.

“She was walking up her driveway when she staggered and fell, hitting the downspout of her house,” a source with direct knowledge of the incident told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“Her parents heard a noise, went outside and found her bruised and slightly bleeding. They immediately called the police department and first aid squad.”

Officers Stephen Buskiewicz and Brian Rypkema arrived and tended to the girl before the Fair Lawn Ambulance squad took her to the hospital.

The officers learned that the victim was among 15 to 20 minor drinking earlier in the basement of a Mayfair Terrace house, Fair Lawn police said in a news release.

On Thursday, they arrested 46-year-old Kathleen A. Martorelli and charged her with child endangerment, the release says. She was booked and released pending a Jan. 25 hearing in Municipal Court.
