GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- A car with a Hawthorne infant inside rolled into a truck after the driver got out to confront the trucker in a road-rage incident on Route 208 in Glen Rock, authorities said.
The vehicle rolled backward into the truck, but the child wasn’t injured and there was minor damage, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The 52-year-old trucker from upstate New York told police the 38-year-old father refused to allow him to merge in a construction zone on the northbound highway before Lincoln Avenue just after 11 a.m. last Tuesday, Ackermann said.
Both then pulled over on the shoulder, the chief said.
“While exiting the vehicle with his 1-year-old child still inside, the Hawthorne man left the vehicle in neutral and did not set the parking brake,” he said. “The vehicle subsequently rolled backwards into the truck.
“Both were advised of the procedure to sign complaints with the Glen Rock Municipal Court. No independent witnesses were on scene,” the chief said.
