The older girl was carrying 10 tabs of LSD when she was arrested by Detective Mike Trover on May 5 during an ongoing investigation, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.

Police issued her a juvenile complaint charging here with drug possession and released the girl to her mother, pending a resoution in the Family Division of Superior Court in Hackensack.

The following night, the father of the younger girl told police he found her "in a highly intoxicated state on the front lawn of Byrd School," Ackermann said.

"It is believed that the girl may have consumed alcohol at an unsupervised house party," the chief said. "However, when officers arrived at the home in question no one was present.

"The owner of the home was contacted by phone and advised of what may have occurred in their house," Ackermann said.

An ambulance took the girl to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, he said.
