Eric Reamy, 51, of Fair Lawn, remained free on the original $250,000 bail that he posted eight days after his Aug. 5 arrest.
Detectives charged the 27-year police veteran with seven counts of theft for selling the handguns and rifles at two gun stores "as though they were his own property," Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.
"Also, a laptop and a pellet gun, which should have been secured in evidence, were recovered during the execution of a search warrant at Sgt. Reamy’s previous address on August 5," the prosecutor said.
Reamy, who was also a firefighter, had been put on suicide watch before his release from the Bergen County Jail while authorities said they were trying to trace two unaccounted-for guns that he said he'd sold.
Prosecutors charged Reamy with exchanging sexually explicit messages with two girls — ages 14 and 17 — and with asking the younger one to provide naked photos of herself after sending her two of his private parts.
Reamy, who was scheduled to retire the end of last month, was charged with five counts of child endangerment.
