Michael “Mook” Williamson was being held on $1 million bail in the Bergen County Jail.
Williams had been ejected from the May 2 game in a Cleveland Street basement when he returned with a handgun and fired several shots at a man he’d fought with, missing him, Detective Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT early this afternoon.
City investigators later chased Williamson down after he bailed from a car he was driving on Pindle Avenue, dashed through a backyard and hopped a fence, Torell said.
During the chase, he tossed his car keys and a bag containing crack cocaine packaged for distribution, the captain said.
After obtaining a search warrant for the car, police found a loaded semi-automatic weapon handgun that Torell said wasn’t used in the May 2 shooting on Cleveland Street.
Around 1:15 a.m. that morning, officers responded to a disturbance at the Elks Lodge near the Soldier’s Monument in the downtown Palisade Avenue business district. Moments later, they got the call of the incident on Cleveland Street, where they fund several shell casings.
A senior citizen also alerted them to the bullet that came through her front window.
“Thankfully no one was hurt,” Torell said.
The Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence. As they and city detectives worked, two explosions were heard in the area.
Moments later, 911 callers pointed police to a car fire on Central Avenue at the St. Nicholas Avenue, a little over a half-mile away.
Police found an unoccupied a 2012 Honda Odyssey that had been stolen from a local bar fully engulfed in flames. Authorities believe the explosions were the tires of the vehicle as they burst from the heat.

City investigators and detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office later arrested Raphael Lynch 31, on charges that include aggravated arson, theft and various drug selling offenses.
Williams, meanwhile, was charged with weapons and drug possession, as well as resisting arrest and tampering with evidence.
“This investigation is ongoing as to the recovery of the weapon involved in this shooting,” Torell said.
Detectives are also exploring possible connections among the Elks Lodge disturbance, the arson and the Cleveland Street shooting he said.
