Statistics may show that burglars often get away, but that didn’t stop Glen Rock police from tracking down a suspect from Union County and cracking a 2-month-old break-in.

Oliver A. Blanco, 23, is being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary and theft.

Investigators from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office lifted fingerprints following the Sept. 30 break-in and theft of $5,000 in cash and jewelry from a Valley Road home, Glen Rock Police Chief Fred Stahman told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

After weeks of investigating, Stahman said, his detectives obtained a warrant for Blanco’s arrest.

Soon after his officers entered the warrant into the system, Summit police called, saying that Blanco, of Berkeley Heights, was being treated at Overlook Hospital in Summit for an undisclosed reason, the chief said.

Glen Rock went to the hospital and took Blanco into custody, he said.
