Garfield police charge Fair Lawn man with beating, threatening woman with knife

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A Fair Lawn man was being held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail for hitting a woman in a Garfield parking lot several times in her face, mouth and head before threatening her with a pocket knife, authorities said.

Garfield police responded to the overnight call and found the injured woman on Dolphine Parkway, Capt. Darren Sucorowski told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

They arrested 23-year-old Christopher Alia and recovered the knife, the captain said.

Alia was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and two weapons possession counts.
