Officers found the weapon after being summoned to the Super Deal Mini-Mart around 11 a.m. Saturday on a report of an assault, Police Chief Frank DelVecchio said this afternoon.

They found Josue Corea “still in the store and behaving erratically,” DelVecchio said.

Corea “immediately became combative and began to kick and swing at the officers,” the chief said, but they subdued and handcuffed him.

After searching him, the officers charged Corea with aggravated assault with a weapon, aggravated assault on police, resisting arrest, two weapons possession counts and a drug possession charge.

Corea was being held on $35,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail pending a Municipal Court appearance this Wednesday in Fairview.
