“This shows the dangers of under-aged drinking and unsupervised parties and how parents need to be aware,” a ranking officer told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

He referred specifically to a tragic incident two months ago, when a 17-year-old Fair Lawn High School junior got drunk at a party, passed out in his driveway and was accidentally run over by a pickup truck driven by his older brother, leaving him paralyzed.

“We really want to do whatever we can to avert any more tragic alcohol-related accidents,” the officer said today.

Wednesday night’s call came in around 10:30, from a concerned parent on the block who said she saw the teens carrying alcohol in the house, Fair Lawn Police Sgt. Richard E. Schultz said.

Turns out the host’s parents were away and their son was supposed to be staying at a friend’s house in New York City, Schultz said.
