Officers responding to the Union Street burglary call just before 2 p.m. Saturday were shown a rear window that had been forced open, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
Taken were her Ipad, sunglasses, a Fitbit and assorted jewelry, along with a blue Nike boog bag and an ID card – all worth a combined $1,500, he said.
Moments later, a Williams Street resident told officers canvassing the neighborhood that he’d seen a suspicious-looking man carrying a blue book bag walking toward the nearby county park.
In no time, Detective Anthony Lugo and Officers Thomas Spear and Nicholas Snyder spotted 48-year-old Barry Green of Cherry Hill on Broadway at Rosa Parks Boulevard in Paterson, Metzler said.
Proceeds from the break-in were found in the book bag, he said.
Green was released on a summons to answer burglary, theft and burglar tool possession charges in court.
