Fair Lawn rescue workers save Route 4 ducklings

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: Five ducklings trapped in a Route 4 storm sewer were saved today by some of Fair Lawn’s bravest and finest as the frantic mother and others looked on.

The rescue effort drew a crowd of employees and patrons of the McDonalds outside where the young ones became trapped, as well as from a nearby IHOP.

One lane of westbound Broadway (Route 4) was blocked near 36th Street, and another storm drain inside the McDonalds was opened.

Those responding included Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue and Fire Company #3, as well as police and animal control agents.
