Three officers stopped 43-year-old Mike Paniagua on Broadway at 27th Street as part of an investigation Friday afternoon and said they found empty bags used to distribute cocaine. A further search turned up a bag of cocaine under the Nissan Altima’s seat, they said.

At that point, Paniagua “admitted to being in Fair Lawn to make a drug transaction,” Sgt. Brian Metzler said this afternoon.

Metzler said Paniagua was released pending a court hearing on charges of drug possession and distribution 1,000 feet of school property.

Detectives also seized $1,637 in US currency, three US money orders totaling $1,119.33, three cellular telephones and the Rolex watch, which were found in the vehicle, the sergeant said.
