Fair Lawn Police Find Repeat Offender Hiding Under Deck After Car Break-Ins

Assisted by a Bergen County sheriff's K-9 unit, Officers Justin DiGuglielmo, Brian Goodson, Robert Belbol, Brian Rypkema and Timothy Ammann responded to the 10:40 p.m. Saturday call of a man entering unlocked vehicles in the area of Rosalie and 30th streets, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

They found 24-year-old Georgy Estevez hiding under a deck on 29th Street near Raphael Street, Metzler said.

Estevez was familiar to police.

Records show he was arrested in car burglaries in Cresskill in May and Secaucus in August. He was also arrested on drug charges in Moonachie in August and Fort Lee in October -- as well as for violating probation. Estevez was also wanted by Hoboken police.

This time, Metzler said, he was carrying cash, gift cards and a cell phone that turned out to be taken from area vehicles.

Estevez was released after being charged with defiant trespassing, burglary and theft, he said.
