Patrick Serafin, who records show had a previous arrest for heroin and crack cocaine possession out of Passaic County two years ago, was brought to Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus for treatment following last Thursday's collision on Morlot Avenue near Van Saun Place, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

The other driver, a 57-year-old Paterson woman, was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, he said.

Serafin was charged with assault by auto, reckless driving and various drug offenses, Metzler said.
