Responding officers found both vehicles heavily damaged on Broadway at Plaza Road on Dec. 18, Sgt. Brian Metzler said Tuesday.

Moments earlier, an 18-year-old Orange, CT woman sustained a head injury when her 2007 Toyota was struck from behind by a 2006 Honda, Metzler said.

Fair Lawn Ambulance took her to Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck.

Meanwhile, a witness told police the other driver walked east on Broadway, the sergeant said.

Officers found 27-year-old Willie Guzman near 34th Street, Metzler said.

After failing a roadside sobriety test, Guzman was taken into custody and later released to a responsible adult pending a hearing on charges of assault by auto, reckless driving, leaving the scene of a crash, using a cellphone while driving and DWI.
