Sean Riffel was being held on $20,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with two count of burglary, theft, ID theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, impersonation and criminal attempt.

Police said Riffel took several itmes from a Plaza Road North apartment after the victim told them that “someone had entered the apartment and stole several items from him and Riffel while they were both out.”

The items included an iPhone and a skateboard, they said.

The same victim reported last month that he woke one morning to find his wallet missing, along with his driver’s license, credit cards and some personal checks.

“According to the victim, the stolen checks had been cashed and one of the stolen credit cards had been used,” Fair Lawn Sgt. Richard Schultz said in a release this morning.

Detective Timothy O’Shaughnessy developed information that linked Riffel to the thefts, he said.
