Eric Reamy, 53, of Fair Lawn was released from the Central Reception and Assignment Facility, a minimum security facility in Trenton that houses nonviolent offenders for short periods, on Sept 18.
Reamy, a 27-year veteran who was stricken with cancer, must register as a sex offender under Megan's Law, remain under lifetime parole supervision and pay the victims' medical expenses. He also can never hold a public job again.
A former juvenile officer, Reamy admitted in March 2016 that he sent sexual text messages and photos to the girls -- 14 and 17 -- who were involved in cases of his.
He also admitted stealing seven weapons from the department evidence that he sold to local gun shops.
A judge in Hackensack later sentenced him to a plea-bargained three years in state prison, with parole eligibility after a year.
His maximum release date was Oct. 20, 2018, according to state Department of Corrections records.
