Burglar flees with $250 after smashing into Fair Lawn restaurant

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A burglar smashed the side window of a Fair Lawn sushi restaurant before making off with $250 cash overnight.

The Green Dragon restaurant was the site of a similar burglary a month ago that police initially suspected was the work of Daniel McKay, 53, who lives just up the street.

McKay remained held on $70,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail after being caught by Fair Lawn police before dawn Saturday following an Elmwood Park liquor store break-in.

Saddle Brook police said McKay was the big-nosed burglar who twice smashed the front door window of the same Krauszers weeks apart before making off with cash and cigarettes.

Glen Rock police also charged him with a Krauszers break-in that occurred a few hours before the Elmwood Park burglary.

He is considered a prime suspect in last month’s Green Dragon break-in in Fair Lawn, Sgt. Brian Metzler told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning. READ MORE….
