Come meet the borough's finest from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Maurice M. Pine Public Library, 10-01 Fair Lawn Avenue.
The highly successful program is designed for discussing community issues, building relationships – and drinking free coffee.
"No agenda or speeches -- just a chance to ask questions and voice concerns," Police Chief Chief Glen Cauwels said.
The majority of contacts the public has with law enforcement comes during emergencies or emotional situations -- not always the best times for relationship-building, the chief said.
"Coffee With A Cop" is a national initiative supported by the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
It removes any barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one conversation -- "one cup at a time,” Cauwels said.
"The coffee and sweets are free, [and] the conversation is informal and informative," the chief said.
