Suspect In $1,500 Shoplifting Heist Injures Clifton Officer During Pursuit: Cops
A Bloomfield man was arrested Thursday night, Jan. 23, after stealing $1,500 worth of clothing from a Kohl’s store on Main Avenue in Clifton, police said.
Officers were dispatched just after 9:30 p.m. to search for the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Daniel Bataille, who fled the store with the stolen merchandise, Clifton Police Lt. Robert Anderson said. Sgt. Andrew Mulick spotted Bataille on Franklin Avenue, just over the border into Nutley.

A bomb threat at Atlantic City Airport earlier this month led to a dramatic standoff and the arrest of a 38-year-old Egg Harbor Township man, authorities said.
The incident began on Jan. 10, at approximately 6:56 a.m., when New Jersey State Police responded to a bomb threat at the airport in Egg Harbor Township, Atlantic County, NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said.
A thorough sweep of the terminal revealed no explosive devices. Investigators identified the suspect as Long Pham, who was charged with false public alarm and terroristic threats, both third-degree offenses, Lebron said.

A 38-year-old former Tenafly police officer has been convicted of aggravated manslaughter in the fatal shooting of his husband, a retired NYPD officer in 2023 in Sussex County, authorities said.
On Tuesday, July 25, 2023, Joseph Grieco and his husband, John Kelly had returned to their Vernon home from a night out with friends, Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said. Police were called to the 300 block of Beech Street in Washington Township around 4:45 p.m., after a resident reported receiving an unexpected brown cardboard box from an overseas address, police said in a news release. NY Man Dies Days After Violent PIP Crash
A New York driver aided by good Samaritans in a crash along the Palisades Interstate Parkway last week has died, authorities announced.
Michael E. Donoghue, of Nanuet, NY, was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center with serious injuries sustained in the crash near milepost 0.9 in Englewood Cliffs Thursday, Jan. 16, according to Jeff Angermeyer, Deputy Chief of Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Donoghue remained hospitalized in critical condition since the crash, and was ultimately pronounced dead Tuesday morning, Jan. 21, Angermeyer said.
