Vito M. Guarino, 63, Of Glen Rock

GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- Vito M. Guarino, 63, of Glen Rock, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 30, 2016.

Raised in Montclair, he resided in Glen Rock for 34 years.

Guarino graduated Life Chiropractic College in Marietta, Ga. in 1982, after which he opened his own practice in New Rochelle, N.Y., treating patients there for almost 30 years. He retired due to illness in 2012.

He was a parishioner of St. Catharine R.C. Church in Glen Rock. He loved spending time with family and friends, walking his dogs and, in younger years, enjoyed skeet shooting, skiing and scuba diving.

He always will be remembered for his generosity, warmth and indomitable sense of humor, and will be sadly missed by his family and many, many friends.

He was the husband of Ann Guarino, to whom he was married for 32 years; father of Vincent Guarino and Nicholas Guarino and fiancée Danielle George; brother of Ralph Guarino and wife Anne, Maryann Adubato and husband John, Susan Guarino and partner Gracella Bennett and Joseph Guarino and wife Debbie; son of his late parents Sadie and Joseph Guarino; and uncle of many nieces and nephews. He also is survived by his loyal canine companions, Bay and Roxie.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass is planned for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Catharine R.C. Church, 905 S. Maple Ave., Glen Rock. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory to the John Theurer Cancer Center for cancer research would be deeply appreciated.
