FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Sylvia Friedman, formerly of Fair Lawn, died Nov. 2. She was 88.
She was born in Berwick, Pa. and grew up in Morristow. A longtime resident of both Paterson and Fair Lawn, she and her beloved husband Herman (Hy) Friedman retired to Florida in 1988.
Friedman was a lifelong member of Women's American Ort and Hadassah and active in many other charitable organizations in New Jersey and Florida. In 2014, in failing health, she moved to Cedar Village Retirement Community in Mason, Ohio.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Harold and Mitchell Krauss; sisters, Hannah Walitsky and Evelyn Midler; and her first husband, Herbert Kornbluth.
She is survived by her children, Joel Kornbluth, Rita Kornbluth Baker and her husband Randy and Eva Friedman.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cedar Park – Beth El Cemetery in Paramus.
