Ida Balzac, 87, Of Fair Lawn

FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Ida Balzac, of Fair Lawn, died Aug 2. She was 87. 

Born and raised in the Bronx, she attended Columbus High School before transferring to secretarial school and moving to Bellerose, Queens. 

A working mom, she was a valued sales associate with Gimbel’s then Macy’s in Paramus. She was a parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn and an active member of its Rosary Society, the Happy Seniors Club of Fair Lawn & the Glen Rock Senior Club. 

She is survived by her sons, Bill, Fred and his wife Kathleen Recchia and grandson Samuel A.V. Balzac; brother, Alfred and his wife Joan; nephew, Andrew Bender; nieces Diane Fortuna, Lenore Goebel and Jeanne Kane; and numerous other relatives and many friends. 

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn with a service at 7 p.m. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Depot or Pendragon theaters.
