Eugene N. DiGenio, 48, Fair Lawn Resident

FAIR LAWN, N.J. – Eugene N. DiGenio, of Fair Lawn, died suddenly Tuesday, Jan. 19. He was 48.

Born in Hackensack and raised in South Hackensack, he resided in Fair Lawn for 10 years. He was a parishioner of St. Anne Roman Catholic Church in Fair Lawn. 

A graduate of William Paterson University in Wayne with a bachelor’s degree in English, he earned a master’s degree in English from Rutgers University in Newark. He was a member of the American Society for Quality, where he received numerous certifications throughout his life. An avid wine maker and food connoisseur, he enjoyed cooking and traveling. He was employed as an associate director with Shionogi Inc. in Florham Park for seven years.

He was the husband of Lisa A. (Campanello) DiGenio; father of Michael G. and Leonardo J. DiGenio; son of Angela (Allegretto) and the late Cosmo Geno DiGenio; brother of Nicholas DiGenio, Susan Sweeney and Karen Beley and her husband, Sam; nephew of Catherine and Mario Petruzzelli; son-in-law of John and Elizabeth Campanello; brother-in-law of Carolyn Caras and her husband, Nicholas, and David Campanello; and cousin of Linda Palladino. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-7 p.m. Sunday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church, 15-05 St. Anne St., Fair Lawn. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
