Donald K. Piermont, 92, Fair Lawn Resident

FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Fair Lawn resident Donald K. Piermont died on Tuesday, Jan. 19. He was 92.

Born and raised in New York, Piermont lived in Venice, Fla. for 27 years before returning to Fair Lawn where then he lived for many years. 

Prior to retiring in 1988, he owned and operated Dave Stern Tires in Paterson and Morristown for 43 years.

An avid golfer, Piermont served as an officer of the Preakness Hills Country Club in Wayne. He was also quite charitable, especially to the military, Humane Society and American Cancer Society. 

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Stern) Piermont; children Donald Piermont Jr. and wife, Barbara, Jack Piermont and wife, Marilyn, and Sally Gillenson and husband, Josh; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass was held Friday morning, Jan. 22, at St. Anne Roman Catholic Church, with entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Totowa. The family will sit shiva from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, at Jack Piermont's residence, 14 Rambling Woods Drive, in Morristown, and from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, at Donald Piermont's residence, 12 Colonial Drive, in Morristown. Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, in Fair Lawn, assisted with arrangements.
