Domenico F. Riggio, 96, Fair Lawn Resident

FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Domenico F. Riggio died Tuesday, Jan. 5. He was 96.

Born and raised in Sicily, Riggio served in the Italian Army. He immigrated to the United States in 1962.

Before retiring, he was a mechanic with Standard Springs in Paterson for 24 years. He was a parishioner of St. Anne Church in Fair Lawn. He was an experienced wine maker and also enjoyed gardening.

Riggio is survived by his children, Joseph Riggio and wife Lisa, Rosa Funcheon and husband Jim, and Maria Dizzia and husband Salvatore; and grandchildren Danielle, Andrew, Christina, Ashley, Julia and Brandon.

He was predeceased by his wife, Calogera (Barbarotto) Riggio.

Visiting hours will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11 at St. Anne Church, 15-05 St. Anne St., Fair Lawn. Entombment will follow at Garden of Memories in Washington Township.
