Clareen Wielgus Bassani, 65, Fair Lawn Resident

FAIR LAWN, N.J. – Clareen Wielgus Bassani, of Fair Lawn, died Sunday, June 5. She was 65.

She was born Feb. 1, 1951, in Passaic, grew up in Garfield and lived in Bergenfield before she moved to Fair Lawn 19 years ago. 

Prior to her retirement in 1995, she was as a computer analyst for the American Broadcasting Company Inc. in Hackensack, where she met her future husband, Joe. They were married on Leap Year Day in 1992. 

She was a parishioner of Saints Peter & Paul Polish National Catholic Church in Passaic. She loved to travel, especially to Sea World in Orlando, where she loved to feed the stingrays, and anywhere out West where there were mountains. She also liked crafting.

She was the wife of 24 years to Joseph “Joe” Bassani; daughter of the late John and Clara (Dombrowski) Wielgus; sister of the late John Wielgus and baby John Wielgus; cousin of Lois Tylutki of Garfield, William and Kathleen Wielgus of Arizona. She also is survived by her cats, Skwootch, Rosie, Janey and LaVerne.

Visitation will take place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Kamienski Funeral Home, 207 Ray St., Garfield. A chapel service will take place from 9:30-10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will take place at East Ridgelawn Cemetery, 255 Main Ave., Clifton.
