Born in Paterson, Vivino grew up in Glen Rock and attended Glen Rock High School.

His "Uncle Floyd Show" had a rabid following from the 70s through the 90s on a “backwater UHF station” kids show that featured local bands, including the Ramones.Lead singer Joey Ramone was known to wear an "Uncle Floyd Show" button on his leather jacket, and Vivino was famously visited by David Bowie at a live appearance in New York. Bowie later wrote an homage, “Uncle Floyd,” that was eventually renamed “Slip Away,” about the passage of time built around references to Vivino's show.

The broadcast grew and developed into a more adult format and eventually went into small-scale syndication in 1982, including on WNBC-TV Channel 4 in New York.
