GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- Thanks to the flurry of comments on Facebook, Glen Rock resident Chris Plesnarski is hoping his photo of the Hackensack switchyard will win him some prize money in the annual International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) photo contest -- or at least some bragging rights.
The event, which ends Sunday, Jan. 24, gives union electricians a chance to show off their skill as well as the excitement of their work. Plesnarski said he was encouraged to enter his photo when his union buddies saw it on his Facebook page. "I don't remember ever seeing a winning photo come out of our local New Jersey-based hall so a win would mean some exciting bragging rights for the Local 102 workers," he said.
The photo was taken at the Hackensack switchyard when Plesnarski was welding. 'I looked up to see the sunset, snapped a picture, and went back to welding," he said. "It was just another moment on the job!"
If you look closely, you can see his colleagues welding in the background of the picture.
