And after being found guilty of 12 counts of child abuse by a grand jury, he wants to see the kids again, Blumenfeld said.
In the coming weeks, Blumenfeld will face her ex in court and is petrified that if he wins, the children will be at risk.
"He wants to see the children he beat, hit, punched, dragged, and bashed across the basement beams," Blumenfeld said. "Seeing him will open up every trauma my young children have suffered, and destroy all the healing and peace they are finding."
More than $3,700 had been raised on a GoFundMe launched by the single mom as of Sunday evening. Blumenfeld is hoping the funds will help her hire an attorney that will match his "top-notch" lawyers, she said.
[The children] have worked so bravely in therapy to get past the trauma and fear," Blumenfeld said.
"My children’s teachers recognize the difference the past 16 months have made. The terrors they’ve experienced night after night, have gradually calmed down, and almost completely disappeared.
"I wish the day would come when I can finally take them to new places without seeing their eyes enlarge with fear, begging me to promise them that their father will not find them."
