UPDATE: Cops ID Bottle King Shoplifter
Jeanelle Mulligan ran over the Glen Rock store employee who ran out to stop the 31-year-old Maywood shoplifter on Thursday night, Oct. 30, Glen Rock Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The thief had grabbed $655 worth of liquor and then fled without paying just before 7:30 p.m., Ackermann said.
Mulligan had been waiting for the shoplifter in the parking lot in a 2006 Toyota, and purposely ran over the employee, according to the police chief.
The shoplifter broke free and ran from the scene, while the Bottle King employee was treated by the responding officers and EMTs from the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps. He was then taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for non-life-threatening trauma.
Mulligan was subsequently charged with assault by auto and conspiracy to commit shoplifting. She was lodged in the Bergen County Jail pending an appearance before Central Judicial Processing at the Superior Court in Hackensack.
Efforts to find the shoplifter are ongoing. The lead investigator is D/Sgt. James Calaski, who is working in cooperation with P.O. Orsita. Also assisting on scene were Sgt. Robert Wojtecki, P.O. Adam Pyatak, P.O. James Donnelly, and officers from the Fair Lawn Police Department.
