GLEN ROCK, N.J. – Tween/teen summer volunteer opportunities are available at the Glen Rock Library for those entering sixth through 12th grades.
Most opportunities are from Monday, June 27 to Friday, Aug. 12. All will require a training session. Volunteer opportunities include:
Decoration Task Force: Monday, June 20 to Friday, June 24 only. Do you have a creative eye, or a knack for hanging things in obscure places? Put those talents to use by preparing the library for summer reading with decorative flair.
Become a Tech Tutor: Up to four hours per week. Come in for a two-hour morning shift Tuesdays and/or a two-hour evening shift Thursdays to help people with their questions about iPhone, Android, Kindle, etc.
Keep your library organized with Adopt-a-Shelf one to five hours per week. Keep the library tidy. Volunteers will be assigned a shelf in the library to keep organized throughout the summer. Come in throughout the week and make sure your shelf is in the correct alphabetical or Dewey Decimal order.
Explore and pioneer as a Makerspace Ambassador up to five hours per week. Are you interested in creativity and technology? Help us out on Makerspace Mondays from noon to 4 p.m. Learn the library’s makerspace tools, like Snap Circuits, Makey Makey, sewing machines, Little Bits, Silhouette Cameo electronic paper cutter (and more) and help teach other people how they work. Volunteers even can host their own workshop this summer.
Join the Program Prep Team up to four hours per week. Are you interested in having fun and helping people your age and younger? Help out the teen and children's librarians with preparing for and running library events. Opportunities will vary from week to week and must be planned in advance. Help the library get ready for a craft, Quidditch match, game time or another event.
