Eating At Fair Lawn Ice Cream Shop Aids Grieving Dumont Family

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Tropical Scoops in Fair Lawn will be donating proceeds from sales on Wed., Nov. 22 to a Dumont family in need.

The River Road store, owned by Jermaine Beckford, will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. Anyone who mentions the Roman family of Dumont between 5 and 8 p.m., will have their proceeds donated.

The store is located at 10-16 A River Road, and will close for the season at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Julia Roman died last week from an amniotic fluid embolism while giving birth to her twin girls, leaving her husband, Victor, to care for them and 5-year-old daughter, Victoria. Julia is also survived by her older children, Dwayne and Valerie.

Support from the community has surged to aid the family after Daily Voice launched a breast milk and supply drive.

Hundreds of moms across New Jersey have offered to donate frozen bags of breast milk, with families in Fair Lawn, New Milford, Wanaque and Bergenfield storing bags of frozen milk for the twins.
