Newark Police Seek Shooting Suspect (Photo) A man wanted for a shooting in Newark on the morning of Wednesday, March 20, is at large, police said.  At 7 a.m., Newark police responded to the 100 block of West Runyon Street and found a man had fired a handgun toward Hawthorne Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said.  No injuries were reported, though police recovered a .9 mm shell casing at the scene, Fragé said. Police are hoping to use surveillance footage to help identify the suspect, Fragé said. 2 Newark Officers Hospitalized In Hit-Run Crash A pair of Newark police officers were hospitalized with minor injuries in a hit-and-run crash early Thursday, authorities said. The police car was near Bergen and West Runyon streets when it was struck by another car around 9:30 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian O’Hara said. The officers were taken to University Hospital for complaints of pain.  This incident remains under investigation. No further information is available.

The body was discovered on West Runyon Street around noon, Chief Essex County Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly said.
