Screwdriver Used In Assault Of 2 Verona Police Officers: Authorities Two Verona police officers were injured after a man in distress assaulted them with a screwdriver on Wednesday, Nov. 22, authorities said. Police initially responded to a home on Linn Drive and told the man, who was not named, he should seek assistance at a hospital, police said. The man became combative and began assaulting officers, police said.  He then pulled out a screwdriver from his pocket and assaulted two officers, one in the chest and the other in the face, police said. While You Were Sleeping: Burglars Break Into Verona Home: Police Verona Police are attempting to find two burglars who broke into a home on Sunday, Oct. 1 while residents were sleeping. At 4:30 a.m., two masked people wearing gloves entered the home via an unlocked door, police said. They left with a small carry bag that was inside the home, police said. They returned two minutes later and retrieved a backpack and then exited the home again, police said. Police believe they were searching for a key fob to the vehicle in the driveway but were unsuccessful. The occupants of the home were unaware of the break-in until later that morning.
