A bicycle-riding ex-con who tossed a gun as he tried to evade pursuing Newark police officers was sentenced Monday to a plea-bargained 32 months in federal prison. Joseph Triplett, 32, of East Orange, was maneuvering his bike around pedestrians on a South 8th Street sidewalk when an officer tried to stop him in September 2019, Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. A 26-year-old Newark man was arrested nearly two hours after kicking a woman out of an SUV and driving away in it when the vehicle was spotted by a keen-eyed officer, authorities said. Authorities in Newark have issued warrants for the arrests of several individuals wanted in robberies that occurred last year. According to Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Authorities in Newark are seeking a pair of women wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting. Victim In Fatal Newark Shooting Monday Identified
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has identified the man shot and killed in Newark as a 49-year-old city resident, the agency said Wednesday. Hassan Webb was one of five people shot Monday night in the 100 block of South 8th Street. Webb died at the scene. On Tuesday, another multiple shooting claimed the life if yet another victim. 3 Shot, One Killed, In Second Straight Night Of Deadly Violence In Newark
One person is dead and two others injured in a shooting in Newark Tuesday night, police said. The victims, identified only as males, were shot on Clinton Place. One of the wounded was reportedly in critical condition, Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. Ambrose referred additional inquiries to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office. The shooting comes on the heels of a pair of shootings Monday night that left one person dead and wounded four others . Gunfire Kills One, Wounds Three On Newark Street
One person was killed and three others were injured Monday night in a pair of shootings on the same Newark street, authorities said. Gunfire broke out just after 5 p.m. on South 8th Street, off 12th Avenue, a neighborhood of mostly two-family homes. The three hospitalized didn’t have life-threatening wounds, police said.
