State Of Emergency Declared As Flooding Worsens In NJ Town A New Jersey town where flooding has apparently worsened since the weekend storm has declared a State of Emergency. Wayne Township residents in areas that are prone to flooding were urged to self-evacuate on Monday, Dec. 18. As of Tuesday, Dec. 19, the area from the Passaic River at Little Falls "entered major flood stage" and was only expected to rise until cresting this evening, township officials said. Phil Murphy declared a State of Emergency in the late afternoon, as rain continued falling, leaving drivers trapped in flood waters across the state. Dunderhook Road at Paramus Road in Paramus remained closed due to flooding, leading the borough's Office of Emergency Management to urge an evacuation of the area late Friday afternoon.
