It was a deadly holiday season in Newark. A day after a 27-year-old was shot in Newark, a 22-year-old East Orange man was fatally shot on Saturday, Dec. 23, authorities said. At 6:13 p.m., Newark police responded to a shooting on the 100 block of Mountainview Avenue and found Kareem Abdul Jarmon Guilford, Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A 16-year-old teenage boy was killed and two others injured after their stolen car collided with a garbage truck in Newark on Friday, Nov. 10, authorities said. At 4:32 a.m., police responded to Central Avenue and 1st Street on a report of the crash, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. A 26-year-old Newark man was fatally stabbed outside of a bar in Newark early Saturday morning, according to authorities and Daily Voice sources. According to sources, Ferando Michael Villa Valdivieso was standing outside El Refugio Bar on Bloomfield Avenue when a fight escalated and he was hit in the head. A 49-year old Newark man was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Sunday, May 28, authorities said. A 41-year-old Irvington woman was killed in a triple shooting in Newark on Monday evening, May 22, authorities said. Belleville Man Gunned Down In Newark
A 38-year-old Belleville man was shot and killed this weekend in Newark, authorities said. Omar Rivera was shot on the 300 block of North 7th Street around 12:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 16, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. He was taken to University Hospital and pronounced dead at 4 a.m. The investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been made.
