Body Recovered From Passaic River: Newark Police A body was recovered from the Passaic River in Newark on Wednesday, April 19, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. At 5 p.m., police responded to Bridge Street and McCarter Highway on a report of a body in the river, Fragé said. Firefighters, personnel from the Newark Police Emergency Services Unit and Kearney Police responded to the scene to assist with the recovery, Fragé said.  The body had drifted northbound due to the river's current, Fragé said. Police: LA Man Kicked Woman Out Of Newark Home & Claimed It Was His Ancestral Property A SWAT team arrested a Los Angeles man who police say identified himself as part of an extremist group and tried to drive a woman out of her home claiming it was his ancestral property. Officers responding to a burglary call on the 100 block of Ivy Street were told by the homeowner that four men had changed the locks and claimed to have legal ownership of the vacant home around 12 p.m. Thursday, Newark Public Safety Director Brian A.
